Aloha... 2010 has already been a great year for Oahu Real Estate. Oahu has traditionally had a resilient real estate market, as it follows a more global than national trend. People from around the world look to Oahu as a place to call home, a second home or a place to invest. As one of the most desirable places on earth, with limited bounds for building, principles of supply and demand prevail and help keep Oahu’s real estate market healthier than most. In the lower price brackets, the First Time Homebuyers Credit has significantly helped in the market recovery. And, with interest rates at an all-time low, all price ranges, including the Oahu Luxury Home Market, have benefitted.

The Luxury Home Market on Oahu has seen modest improvement this year, in a number of Regions on Oahu. It is nice to see the upward progress, after the past few years of declining sales, but it is still a Buyer’s market, in most cases. In my Oahu Luxury Homes Report, I have detailed most of the data which might be of interest regarding 2010 luxury home sales, as well as a look at the past. I hope you find this guide informative. In writing this report, it occurred to me that “Luxury” is a term that almost defies definition, as one person’s necessity or even burden, can sometimes be another person’s luxury. For some, luxury means the finest of everything in a home … quality materials, high-end finishes, gourmet kitchens, swimming pools and other amenities… For others, it is a neighborhood, a view or a price tag. And for others, it is a state of mind or a lifestyle, which may mean a small and simple cottage, with a hammock where you can relax, watching the whales and feeling the tradewinds blow. Whatever your definition of luxury, you will find it here on Oahu. I’ve broken down the homes in this report by price point, for simplicity… But the luxuriousness of each home is in the eye … and heart … of the beholder.
